Carolina Herrera's Resort 2025 Collection Embodies the 'Intensity' of Mexico City

Carolina Herrera's Resort 2025 collection draws inspiration from the vibrant "magic and intensity of the sunset in Mexico City," according to Creative Director Wes Gordon. Presented in the heart of the Mexican capital, the collection stays true to the brand’s signature bold colors, impeccable tailoring, and sophisticated eveningwear, yet infuses each of the 64 looks with the unmistakable spirit of Mexican artistry.

"For Resort 2025, we knew the location ahead of time, allowing me to design with the setting in mind," Gordon explains in an email to L'OFFICIEL. The show took place at the Museo Anahuacalli, designed by renowned Mexican artist Diego Rivera. Gordon focused on a vibrant color palette inspired by Mexico City's rich architectural, natural, and artistic landscape. This theme is reflected in the opening gown, which evokes the chromatic beauty of a sunset, and in the verdant dresses that embody the essence of nature.

Gordon was also inspired by the people and culture of Mexico, leading him to collaborate with four talented female artisans from across the country. María de los Ángeles Licona San Juan (Maestra Nähñu) and Virginia Verónica Arce Arce contributed intricate embroidery, while Jacqueline España painted ceramics and jewelry, and Araceli Nibra Matadamas infused her unique perspective into the collection’s jewelry. Each artisan’s work adds depth and a rich cultural heritage to the collection.

Additionally, the collection includes a collaboration with Frame, the high-end American brand known for its denim. The partnership blends Frame’s denim expertise with Herrera’s bold, colorful aesthetic. This capsule collection features five styles, including the Denim Ball Skirt and Corset Mini Skirt, ranging from $498 to $1,198, available at Carolina Herrera, Frame, and luxury retailers.

Overall, the Resort 2025 collection captures an artistic, joyful essence with voluminous dresses, brightly-colored suiting, metallic accessories, and sequined skirts, all imbued with the energy of Mexico's culture and craftsmanship.
