Bogotá Fashion Week 2019 brought together Colombia’s rich heritage and an international business mindset in a three-day showcase of fashion, creativity, and commerce. Whether emerging or established, designers from diverse fields—including jewelry, clothing, and leather design—united under a shared vision: positioning Bogotá as a global capital for both fashion and enterprise.

Hosted by the Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá, an institution supporting entrepreneurs for over a century, the event provided a stage for brands to display not only their artistry but also their international market potential. This drew the attention of national and international buyers, reinforcing the catwalk as both a commercial and creative platform.

A testament to this global reach was the award for Best Emerging Designer, which granted Papel de Punto a scholarship to the IED (European Institute of Design) in Barcelona. Recognized for their brand development and design projection, the label captivated audiences with its ‘Delfín hasta el fin’ collection—a unisex blend of oversized knitwear and bold feline prints, embracing both artistic expression and a gender-fluid vision.

Throughout the week, Latin American design traditions took center stage, from the gold and indigenous influences in the jewelry showcase to the vibrant colors and tribal rhythms setting the tone for many collections. The event blurred the lines between runway and audience, as fashion enthusiasts off the catwalk showcased just as much style as the models themselves.

Closing the event was Faride Ramos, whose collection effortlessly merged the feminine and androgynous, transitioning from maxis to minis to power suits. With an agenda to elevate Colombian fashion globally, her fusion of laser-cut precision and handcrafted techniques was a fitting finale to a week that celebrated innovation, heritage, and the future of fashion.
