From July 21 to 23, 2017, twelve Costa Rican designers showcased their collections at Swim Week in Miami, held at the Soho House Hotel. The event highlighted Costa Rica’s growing influence in fashion, featuring brands such as Guayaberi Swimwear, Fabrizzio Berrocal, Nomadic Collector, Etérea, Lolita Mia, John Howard, MEBKIKIS, Makalo Swimwear, Ana Gutierrez, NINFO Swimwear, Tres Tropical, and Elha Jewelry.

The participation was made possible with the support of PROCOMER (Costa Rica's Foreign Trade Promotion Agency), which guided the designers through the preparation process. This included training on product presentation, selecting materials and samples, and building industry connections. PROCOMER also arranged for key figures in fashion to wear the designers’ pieces, promoting Costa Rican talent on an international stage.
“Our goal this year is to create new business opportunities for this sector and help position Costa Rican products in the global market,” said Alvaro Piedra, PROCOMER’s Exports Director.
Designers presented a wide array of products including swimwear, jewelry, and accessories for both men and women. Notably, Ana Gutierrez showcased her renowned jewelry designs, while Guayaberi and Fabrizzio Berrocal presented their swimwear and menswear collections respectively.
In addition to displaying their work, the event provided a valuable platform for networking, with approximately 100 buyers in attendance, including representatives from boutiques, department stores, and distribution channels.
Many of these designers are also set to participate in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, continuing to build Costa Rica’s presence in the international fashion scene.
