Karla Herrera Dazzles at Colombia Fashion Week 2024
Her collection "Light and Darkness" is rich with symbolism and emotion, reflecting the designer's personal experiences—a journey she describes as a mixture of torment and wonder.
Colombian haute couture designer Karla Herrera made a splash at Colombia Fashion Week with her latest collection, "Light and Darkness." Brimming with symbolism and emotion, the collection draws directly from Herrera's own life.
"Inspiration comes from many sources: nature, people, trends—but in this case, my inspiration came from my own feelings," the designer explained. "I was going through a significant situation in my life, and from that experience, special ideas emerged that I wanted to express in my work. That's how 'Light and Darkness' was born."
The collection comprises 16 unique designs, with 12 pieces produced of each style, intended for a high-profile international clientele including artists, journalists, and television presenters. The dominant colors are ivory, nude, and black, and every garment has been handcrafted by Colombian artisans. "Each piece has a name that reflects strength, passion, and courage—qualities embodied in every design," Herrera added.
For the second consecutive year, Karla Herrera was selected to be part of the exclusive Haute Couture pavilion, a distinction awarded to only ten emerging brands with support from global partners. Last year, Herrera presented her "Joshua Collection" with the backing of The Vogue Talents Corner; this year, she returned to the pavilion with the support of Marie Claire Atelier.
2024 has been a successful year for the designer, who also participated in the Mexico Fashion Show Tulum in January. Currently, Herrera is preparing to take her collection to new international destinations, continuing her mission to share her story of resilience and success with the world.
